URGENT/ OM9 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE HAS BEEN POSTPONED

It is with great distress that the OURMedia 9 Organizing Committee has made the decision to postpone the annual conference that had to take place next October 4-9 at the University of Sindh, in Pakistan. The main reason for this postponement is the humanitarian crisis that has ravaged the North and Southern part of the country, particularly the province of Sindh. There are over 20 million people affected and the situation in Sindh region is critical. OURMedia expresses its deep solidarity with those affected in Pakistan.

A decision of when or where will OURMedia 9 take place has yet to be made. As it has happened in the past, the OM International Committee will analyze institutional proposals to host the next conference and the main criteria will be the potential for funding and the leadership of a strong Local Committee to organize the meeting. We want to thank all those colleagues that committed their effort and worked hard to make OURMedia 9 happen, all who contributed to the organization of the conference so far and those that showed interest and sent their abstracts, papers and panel proposals. 

Any news about the next OURMedia conference will be circulated to the entire OM list and posted on this website

Estimados colegas de la red NuestrosMedios en el mundo,

Con mucha pena el Comité Organizador de NuestrosMedios 9 ha tomado la decisión de postergar el congreso anual que debía tener lugar del 4 al 9 de octubre de 2010 en la Universidad de Sindh, en Pakistán. 

El principal motivo para postergar el evento es la crisis humanitaria que asola el norte de Pakistán y que corre el riesgo de afectar también el sur del país durante las próximas semanas. 

No hemos decidido todavía donde o cuando tendrá lugar NuestroMedios 9. Como ha sucedido en el pasado, el Comité Internacional de NM analizará las propuestas institucionales para albergar el próximo congreso, y los principales criterios serán el potencial para obtener fondos y el liderazgo de un Comité Local fuerte, capaz de organizar el evento. 

Agradecemos a todos aquellos colegas que comprometieron su esfuerzo and trabajaron con ahínco para que NuestrosMedios 9 pudiera ser realidad, todos aquellos que contribuyeron en la organización del congreso hasta la fecha y aquellos que mostraron interés y enviaron sus resúmenes, ponencias o propuestas de paneles.
